“Clanking” is a set of tea set for matcha drinking inspired by the dry landscape in the Japanese Zen temple garden in Ryoan-ji which located in Kyoto. Tea drinking and enjoying the landscape can make people feel harmony and peace at the same time. In the Japanese Zen temple garden, nature began to integrate into its design with an imagery way. Also, the artistic concept of Chinese ink painting also permeates and influences in it. Rocks arrangement with a sweep of smooth peddles rake into linear patterns are emerging in a symbolism into mountains, rivers, and streams. Admire the view and the form of stone and transmuted it into the landscape, also arrange a sense of infinity in a limited space was another way that I inspired by this material.
The noise of clanking is produced during the course of striking. Yet, these clanking sounds could be used to create a quiet landscape. Ramming is an action that emphasize the process. I think of forging, a process that forming metal in between hammer, anvils, and stakes. The impact of hammer on metal surface showed the extensibility of metal, and it formed the piece.
